Driving the innovations needed to bring fusion power to the grid
Engineering technologies that turn fusion concepts into real-world devices
Exploring the fundamental physics of the fourth state of matter
Understanding how fusion plasmas interact with, stress, and alter materials
Studying how matter reacts to extreme temperature and pressure
Turning breakthrough fusion and plasma research into practical technologies
Plasma physics and fusion science are for everyone, and we’ll show you why when you join us for a tour or at our Open House.
Interested in visiting the PSFC? We offer monthly tours for those interested in learning about our cutting-edge research in plasma physics and fusion energy.
Tours are held only on the first Tuesday of each month from 2:30–3:30 PM and are limited to 40 visitors per tour day. Advance registration is required and spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
To request a spot on a tour, please send an email to Lauren Bandklayder at lbandklayder@psfc.mit.edu with the subject line:

Please note:
During your visit, you’ll have the opportunity to explore our facilities, hear from researchers and graduate students, and learn about ongoing fusion energy research at the PSFC, including collaborations related to the SPARC fusion device. Tours typically include an overview of PSFC history and research, introductions to major experimental facilities, and at least one plasma demonstration.
If you believe your group has a compelling reason to request a tour outside of our regularly scheduled monthly tours, you may submit a request by emailing Lauren Bandklayder at lbandklayder@psfc.mit.edu.
Please note that we are only able to accommodate a limited number of exceptions, and approval is reserved for groups with a clear and significant connection to our mission and educational efforts.
We host bi-annual open houses in Spring and Fall so that individuals and smaller family groups can visit and learn more about the exciting science happening at the PSFC. Advance registration is required, and spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Our next open house will be in the Fall of 2026, more information to come.
